THE GRAVITY COMPLEX® · DEVLOG
The rooms were too complex
Retrospective 10/12 · Testing and revision · Prototype phase 2026. Repeated playthroughs revealed a central problem: many spaces were initially difficult for new players to read.
EVENT 10 What testing revealed |

Documentary photograph of a game screen dated 24 July 2026, with the instruction “Reach the next Frame”. It does not establish a particular external test session.
- The person who built a space knows how its parts relate. On a first visit, those relationships still need to be discovered.
- Free gravity opens many routes. At the same time, it can become unclear which goal should be reached next.
- An interesting movement is not enough on its own. The space has to communicate the task currently facing the player.
CONTEXT The consequences for the game |
- Frames mark the next destination while leaving the route open. The reset module makes another attempt possible from a known point.
- Testing and revision thus became part of concept development itself. Spatial freedom needed understandable orientation.
- Playtesters already appear in the devlog in early June 2026. The exact date of the first external test session and a complete evaluation remain undetermined for this retrospective.
